Inkwell Awards Kubert Scholarship Auction

As I mentioned in a post back in October, I did this Dark Phoenix PSC for Bob Almond and the Inkwell Awards. I did this at the Boston Comic Con and they're running the auctions now in a special "Sketch Card" grouping on Ebay in which this Dark Phoenix of mine is also available. These auctions are set up to help raise funds for the Dave Simons Inkwell Memorial Scholarship to be awarded annually to the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. Being an XQB myself, (ex-Kubert Student) how could I say no to helping out.
Many more details are found in the auction so go over and check it out.
Also, I'm not sure when I'll be reopening my commissions list so here's a great way to get one of my PSC's without waiting too long.

On a separate note, this is sure to be that last post of 2009.
I hope you've all had a good year or at least have high hopes for the coming one. (I'm in the latter myself)

Happy New Year,

Happy Holidays 09'

I realize it's been awhile since the last posting, but I've been pretty swamped with work and trying to get things done for Christmas. I'm hoping after the holidays I can return to a semi-normal posting schedule and actually have things to share. For now, all I have to offer is my hopes that you have the happiest and safest Holiday season you can.
See you next year.

All the best.

Casual Friday #21

I'm not hating the new look of the Blog, but I need to do some tweeks here and there and add some stuff. Maybe over the weekend.

Now for Friday.
I so didn't have time for this, but I did it anyway. ... and very quickly I might add.
Needless to say, I've got a ton of work, a list of other things I need to get to, and my head is full of all these projects I would love to get to. I'm busting at the seams to get to any of them. Unfortunately, I can only do so much. If I didn't have to sleep...
Any artists or computer guys in my area looking to get taken under a wing?

Anyway, a little "Destroyer" action comin' at ya.

Marvel 70th Anniversary Card Set

I guess the "caped" cat is out of the bag as I've all of a sudden started getting emails asking if I was working on the Marvel 70th Anniversary Card Set. So to answer and post it officially, Yes, I'm on the set.
Actually, I'm doing the case incentives and have already started working on them. I'm doing what I call the "Marvel Retrospective". I will be doing cards depicting characters, scenes, issues, or moments historically important or relevant for each of their 70 years. I'm only doing 150 cards so it wasn't easy narrowing down all that could be done but, the list has already been painstakingly researched, determined, and typed in.
("Painstakingly researched"... like onlining and reading through 100's of comic books for three days straight is a tough job)
I've actually got a new appreciation for Marvel and the history they have after spending so much time researching that history. It's amazing seeing the patterns of comics compared to what's happening in the country at the time or what's culturally popular. You can easily see the roller coaster of comics and the ups and downs of the industry. With that perspective in mind and seeing where comics are now, I have a positive outlook for it. I think comics, for the most part, are on the right track and as long as it doesn't veer off into a pitfall siding, it'll do ok.
(starting to ramble, end now)

So there it is the new card set. That's all your getting and I'll post more info as I'm allowed.
