Marvel Bronze Age Promo Detail

I just thought I would post a better pic, one that you could actually see, of the Spider-man artwork used on the back of the Marvel Bronze Age promo cards. This was actually the first card I drew for the set and probably took more time on it than I should, but one has to warm up some how.

New Job? You bet.

There have been many changes around here recently, a lot of cool new stuff happening I can't wait to talk about, and plenty of things to keep me extra busy and (semi-) out of trouble.  Of all the things going on, the one I'm most excited to announce is the new position I've accepted at Rittenhouse Archives. Rittenhouse is one of the top Entertainment Trading Card companies in the world and I'm honored to be joining their team.

Among various job requirements, I'll be in charge of finding new talent, bringing in new artists and working with the artists we already have helping them to evolve their work and expand their contribution to future sets. Also, you will probably be seeing me at more conventions, which is a good thing… I really need to get out of the studio more. And don't worry, I'll still be drawing my share of Sketch Cards. There are so many ideas and techniques I can't wait to dive into on upcoming sets to keep both the fans and myself entertained.

I'm looking forward to getting settled in over the next few weeks and to get some balls rolling.

Marvel Greatest Heroes Trading Cards (Avengers)

As you may or may not have heard, I've been working on Rittenhouse Archives Marvel Greatest Heroes Trading Card set. (See my last post about their Artist of the Day promotion for a bunch of the artwork) It's set for a March 14 2012 release and from what I've seen It's shaping up to be a really nice set.

My Sketchcards will be the 9 - Case Incentive cards in which I've been asked quite alot about the Sketches. Due to popular demand, an amazing response from my Marvel 70th cards, and a direct request from on high...(Rittenhouse) I have returned to the dating of the cards theme.

Much like the Marvel 70th cards , I was limited to only 150 or so cards. With the long history of The Avengers, it wasn't easy to narrow down the list of everything I needed / wanted to draw and still have a well paced and even handed representation of all the years. Like all comics, some years are much more history packed than others and I tried not to let the "leaner" years suffer. There were many cards and characters I couldn't fit on the list without taking away from other areas. That being said, I was really happy with the way these cards came out. I spent more time on them than I planned, but I got in a groove and I went with it.

Whatdja draw?Whatdja draw?Whatdja draw?... That was the most asked question. Unfortunately, I just finished my cards late last week and I know they haven't all been approved yet so I can't show any until I get the ok. You'll just have to be a little more patient. I will post as soon as I can. But I can give some details.

The Avengers is a team, and I drew ALOT of Team cards. (Another thing that slowed me down a bit) Again, I dated them all, as you can see in this detail, but this time on the upper right side. I tried to get the most important 1rst appearances of characters, last appearances of charcters (i.e, Deaths) new team formations, and tried to pick the most important moments to represent each year or at least the most interesting to draw and to spread off into most of the spin-off Avengers titles. (I would have liked to have had another 50 cards to work with) There were a few puzzles and yes... there is one puzzle piece that matches to another past set. (I will not help, you're on your own)

There it is, I will update this when I can and I appreciate all the emails. Thanks

Quicky Sketch Card Galleries Posting, Thunderbirds

Here's a quick post about on adding the Thunderbirds images to my Sketch Card Galleries section. Some of the scans were direct from the cards in my studio as I was pretty happy with the way the painted cards came out and wanted a good record. Unfortunately, this was still before I started scanning all my cards to keep as a record so these Thunderbird sketches are incomplete but shows a pretty good representation on each design.

I still have many more Sets to post in the Galleries section and I'm hoping to trickle them in from time to time.

A Few More Requested Scans... Complete Avengers Subsets

Since I've started posting some of these older cards I've drawn and also that I've cancelled my account on the now worthless ComicSpace which held all my Galleries, I've been getting a bunch of requests to post more and more scans here on my blog. As cool as that is, I've decided to set up a special gallery section on my website where I'll post everything there.
Also, now that I've finally finished all my Sketches for the Marvel Dangerous Divas set, working on my website is officially in my schedule. I'm gonna give this a whirl, rework my whole site, and cross my fingers that I can come up with something that doesn't suck.
