Marvel Dangerous Divas Card set

Ok, now that it has been officially announced, I can finally say yes, I'm working on the Marvel Dangerous Divas card set and doing up an undisclosed amount of full color Sketch cards. Rittenhouse has this scheduled for a March 2011 release and it looks like my cards will be release as 18-case incentives.

If you haven't noticed, I've really cut back on the amount of card sets I've been working on. I also try to come up with something different for each new set I do work on. (which is no small feat) For this set all the sketch cards I'm doing will be 2-card puzzles that will include at least 2 characters for each puzzle. It's working out really cool and I'm loving the expanded work area. Plus, from what I understand, Rittenhouse will be including both pieces of each puzzle in one Archive box so you won't need to try and track down the other half and be all disappointed when you can't. On top of all that there will be an additional twist involved with the puzzles. More on that teaser... probably around release time.

 back to work....

Website, ComicSpace, and DC Legacy

As I mentioned yesterday, I was scheduled to start working on my website this month and had everything all set up. I even signed on to Squarspace to make it easier for myself, but due to the unexpected workload, the website update just isn't going to happen yet... again. I'm seriously getting frustrated about not getting anytime to do it. I can barely keep up with this blog and I've pretty much given up on following Facebook.
ComicSpace was one of the sites that was making it easy for me with getting up scans of my work. They had an awesome layout and gallery section for easy viewing and was very easy to upload. Unfortunately ComicSpace went down hill this year. The site owners didn't seem to be very hands on, spammers started taking over which the moderators seemed to do very little about, and I just stopped visiting. They've just recently updated their entire format. Now, I give them props for trying something new and being present enough to want to move their site forward, but the new site is a complete waste of space. They took out the "easy" from every aspect of what I liked about it and the galleries are next to impossible follow or view with any kind of ease or control. So I gave up on them, deleted all my galleries, (which wasn't easy) and closed my account.
Now the plan is to update my website to the way I want it and now add the same type of gallery section that ComicSpace used to have.
I've also been contacted about Scans for my DC Legacy cards I did for that set and thought I would just post them here until I .... hopefully.... and eventually, get to my website update. (Can you here the frustration in my voice? Sometimes I just need to bitch about something and get it out.)

These are all my scans for the DC Legacy set released by Rittenhouse Archives in Sept 07.

Enjoy

Star Wars Sketch cards and Collectors Expo Wrap Up. ...And 100th Post

Yes, that's right, 100th post, and for me, that's something. (I'll post more about that at another time)

Getting right to it, I just thought I'd say a few words about this past CECE convention in Chicago. I was there all 3 days, although Sunday was short for me as I had a plane to catch. It was a really good show and I had a great time seeing friends and people I haven't seen in awhile or have even met before. I sat next to John Czop who I haven't seen in ages and the Tosers were behind us. (These show pics were supplied by Harris from Nonsport Update, Thanks Harris!) It was a fun section. The second pic Randy Martinez stopped by and chatted for awhile. It was cool meeting him and Denise Vasques, and all the other artists were very friendly as well. The Celebrity dinner and presentations were very cool too and I'm so glad I went. I can't recommend this show enough, you have to attend.

A special thank you goes out to Paul and Diane (and Cherie).  True class acts and some of the best people I have the honor of calling friends. They really know how to treat their guests and make you feel like your not just another name on a list. Most conventions I'm stuck behind my table the whole time, I don't eat well, I don't get much sleep, and I'm a waste product by the time it's over. This show is different and they make sure you eat and they go out of their way to get you what you need when you need it. On top of that, what they do for charity work is down right moving. The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation work they did and auction they had set up was inspirational. Thank you for being such good people.

Speaking of the Charity Chest auction, here are the Sketch cards I did for the Treasure Chests. Working with Topps, they were able to get the OK to do official Star Wars images on the sketches. Seeing as how I've never done any before I thought this was a good time to start.

So for all the emails asking me to post them, here are the 9 Star Wars cards I did for it.

Hope you enjoyed them.

I've begun My Backlog Of Commissions

Yes, It's true! I know many of you probably can't believe it, but it's really true. My apologies to all that have had to wait longer than I hoped or when I said I could get to them. Stuff always seems to come up that your not expecting and always seems to take longer to get done that you would like.  I really need to stop giving quotes as to when the commissions will get done, that's a guarantee I won't be able to do it by the time I say.
Anyway, here's one from the list I can show, an Uncut Silver Age of the Silver Surfer and Family. It's kind of a snapshot of Norrins troubled and tragic past. Featuring Elmar-Radd, Jartan-Radd, Fennan-Radd, and Shalla-Bal with his home planet Zenn-La in the background.

More to come as I get them done and get approvals.
