Marvel 70th Anniversary Card Set Release

The Marvel 70th Anniversary Card set is being released this Wednesday 4/14/10. Along with a few samples here in this post, and eventually in my comicspace galleries, I've exclusively posted scans of all my sketchcards over at the Scoundral Art Forum in the Martineck Marvel Retrospective thread.

These cards will be released as the 6-case incentives.  Each card depicts origins, first issues, characters, scenes, monumental issues, or moments historically important or relevant for each of Marvels 70 years. I only did 150 cards so it wasn't easy narrowing down all that could have been done and a few things or characters had to be passed over. "Whata ya gonna do." As you can see each card is dated and in full color.

Also, there are a few puzzle cards slipped in here and there in the set, but with the dating format, it was pretty difficult. Here's one:

Justice League of America Sketches

One of the sets I've been working on lately that I haven't been able to talk about has been the Justice League of America set.
I've finally seen some official release info on this upcoming set and it's now mentioned in a few forums, plus I have a bit more info on it as well for my part. (These pics I believe were from Previews or something like it)

I finished up my cards for this a few weeks ago and did 2oo for the set, which I've been told have all been approved. You can see one of the Hawkman I did in the ad below. I normally try to keep my numbers to 150 sketches or less per set (especially for all full color cards) but I thought I'd try a 3 card puzzle, something like I did with the Xena card set back in 2004. The JLA version will be a full color 14 member team shot across 3 cards. I made 9 sets of this puzzle to make it a bit easier to get one. That's the theory anyway.
The ads have a release date of July but I haven't heard anything to confirm it.
Also, yes, as far as I know I will be getting Artist's Proof for this set and will make them available.
Speaking of which, I have my only X-men Origins - Wolverine Artist's Proof available right now on the Bay if anyone is interested.

Thats all for now.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Card Set

Rittenhouse is releasing an X-Men Origins Wolverine Card set on 4/29/09. More info can be seen here at the Wolverine Page. I was able to squeeze in a few sketches to be included in the set. A few meaning 26, I thought that was a nice number. Enough has been posted by Rittenhouse now, that I can post this with a few more details. Here's my checklist for those of you that always email me for it.

3 BLOB
4 DEADPOOL
3 GAMBIT
4 SABRETOOTH
12 WOLVERINE

As you can see by the sample pic of "Sabretooth" I've tried a different style for these as I needed to change things up a bit just to keep myself interested and get you guys something different to look at. I will post all the images in my ComicSpace Gallery after the release date. (I actually did 27 cards, but the first one I did, trying out a new style and failing miserably, came out so horrendously that I had to put it out of it's, and my, misery. It was chucked.)

On a separate note, I was really enjoying doing those Casual Friday drawings, but I'm closing in on a heavy and tight deadline for the X-Men set and need every minute of time I can get to meet it. It may be a few weeks before anything gets "casual" around here.

MOVING RIGHT ALONG.

Well, New Years came and went pretty

fast. It's always been a time for reflection and remembrance, good things to come, blah blah blah and all that stuff. The way I see it, it's really just a point on the calender that most people use as a time to finally let hope for a better future sink in and flush the toilet of the past years crap. I try to do that at the end of every month. Other than a few bumps my year wasn't that bad, but it's still nice to have that little extra feeling that this year will even be better.
Things do look pretty good for this year and I can't wait to dive right in. I've been working pretty hard at getting back into comics after taking some time off from it (way too much time, my mistake) and the work has been paying off. I'm currently doing some pencils and inks on a comic for Beau Smith that will probably coming out this year, I've just finished up some Inking work on the Phantom book for Egmont, and I've got another comic job I'm working on to get off the ground. It's just feels so good to get back to story telling again and working on board larger than 2.5" x 3.5".
"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" For all my Trading card fans, although I have been trying to cut back on Sketch card work (with all the new releases of older sketch sets I've worked on it doesn't seem that way) it looks like I'll still be working on at least one set or maybe 2 here and there which will probably be comic related.  There is still a Star Trek set yet to be released with sketches I did for it. Maybe this year.
You know who you are - Thanks to all for the emails and kind words throughout the year. I've got better things planned and can't wait to show you.

Heres to finding enough time to get everything done.
